Ultra Singapore 2018: Rave of the Year
Published: Friday December 14, 2018
Being a frequent clubber in my younger days, I went to Ultra Singapore 2018 on 15 June to see what the craze was about. I guess you could say I wanted to re-live old memories.
Bought 2-day GPA tickets for myself early at S$180 to the 3rd edition of Ultra Singapore. I noticed that as the event drew closer to the day itself, prices doubled to nearly S$300 per ticket! So, for any interested party goers out there who are planning to put Ultra on your itinerary, make sure you do it early!
The most widely anticipated music festival of the year hosted three stages including the Main Stage, RESISTANCE stage, and the Live Stage. Ultra Singapore 2018 DJs included the likes of DJ Snake, Steve Angello, Nicky Romero, and Above & Beyond.
Took the public transport there at 4 pm. Ultra park was a 5 min walk from Bayfront MRT station. Reach the place at 5 pm and you can see early party-goers who want to get their game on early drinking at near-by places or at the entrance.
Entry into the event was smooth and the staff were friendly. Security was tight and checks for prohibited items were conducted. Smokers beware!; only un-opened packets of cigarettes are allowed! To prevent drug abuse, attendees with opened cigarette packets will be asked to throw them away! Please also note that outside food and drinks are not allowed!
Plenty of pretty girls in bikinis and rave-ready outfits. The event venue was slightly muddy due to rain early in the day but that did not stop many party-goers. I noticed the crowd picked up closer towards 7 pm.
Alcohol is easily bought at the venue with house pours like Vodka Redbull going at S$14. For non-drinkers or designated drivers, you have to pay for water! Water is S$3 a bottle.
Met up with my old secondary schoolmates and the event was nostalgic to join the dance-crazed crowd. Left early thou, at 9 pm, after my 4th drink; but the event showed me that Singaporeans can party and they know how to have a good time!
